Dear Parents/Carers,

As September draws to a close, I thought this would be a good time to update you on St Mirin’s news items

and dates for your diary.

P1 photographs

Both P1 classes had their class photograph taken by the Evening Times.  This will be published in the special “Back to School” supplements Monday 2nd – Saturday 7th October.  Unfortunately, the Evening Times were unable to give a specific date for any school.  Copies of the photograph are available through the Evening Times’ sales department on 0141 302 6210

Pakora Night

The Parent Council have organised a fundraising night in the school hall on Friday 6th October.  Tickets costing £5.00 are available from the school office or any member of the Parent Council.  Please support this event if possible, as you know all funds raised go directly back to funding equipment, outings and treats for all pupils.

Parents’ Evenings

As per yesterday’s letter, these will take place on Wednesday 11th October 5.00pm – 7.30pm and Thursday 12th October 3.30pm – 5.30pm.  Please do not request specific times as we are often unable to accommodate.

October school holiday

School will close for pupils on Thursday 12th October at 2.55pm.  School will re-open to pupils on Monday 23rd October.

There will be Halloween Discos on Monday 30th October.

P1 pupils 1.00pm – 3.00pm (free – P1 pupils can come to school in costume all day)

P2 – P4 pupils 6.15pm – 7.15pm (£3.50 + goody bag)

P5 – P7 pupils 7.30pm – 8.30pm (£3.50 + goody bag)

Tickets on sale from school office after October Holiday.

Head Lice

Unfortunately we are experiencing a growing number of parents reporting that their child has head lice.  This can turn out to be a continual problem if all parents do not follow the same advice.

Please check your child’s hair on a regular basis.  If you find head lice in your child’s hair please treat it immediately.  Effective treatments can be purchased from most pharmacies.  (Some pharmacies are part of the Minor Ailments scheme where free head lice treatment is given.  Check with your local pharmacy.)

Mrs Clark is absent from school.  Please keep her in your prayers.
